Talk Money Week 2024: NFRP Brings Money Advice to the Heart of Hyson Green

As part of Talk Money Week 2024, the Nottingham Financial Resilience Partnership (NFRP) set up an engaging stall at ASDA Hyson Green, creating a welcoming space for community members to discuss their financial concerns. The event was made possible through the kind support of ASDA’s Community Champion, Heather Turner, whose facilitation was instrumental in bringing the initiative to life.

At the forefront of the effort, Emma Bates, NFRP’s lead, engaged directly with the local community, fostering open conversations about financial worries and sharing practical tips and resources from NFRP. The stall provided visitors with immediate access to valuable guidance, emphasising the importance of financial resilience.

A highlight of the day was the presence of James Jones from Experian, who provided expert advice on credit reports, answering questions and demystifying the process of maintaining healthy credit. Sophie Williamson from NFRP’s communications team also joined the event, raising awareness about an exciting social media competition offering a £100 supermarket voucher. This initiative aimed to incentivise engagement and spread the word about the support available. Flyers promoting the competition were distributed across local corner shops in the city centre, and announcements were made through NFRP’s social media platforms in the lead-up to the event.

The day also saw a visit from Suzie Dale of National Numeracy, who lent her expertise to the stall and helped spotlight National Numeracy Number Confidence Week, a campaign running alongside Talk Money Week to promote confidence in handling numbers and finances.

The event was a great success, creating a buzz in Hyson Green and empowering attendees with resources, advice, and a renewed sense of financial confidence.
